My name is George Rodriguez and I was born in Mexico in 1955. My parents immigrated to the United States in 1963 and settled in California. I dropped out of school when my parents divorced in 8th grade and I started working as a bus boy at the age of 14 to help support my mom and sisters. 2 ½ years later I joined the Army National Guard and from there, my life changed forever. I was 17 years old when I joined and went to basic training. What began as a way to start my life as a young man, was a place I ended up staying for 25 years.
I worked at NASSCO in the shipyard as a shipfitter for 5 years from 1975 to 1980. I then moved to construction from 1980 to 1983. I became a bus driver for the City of San Diego from 1988 to 2005, while simultaneously working at San Diego Unified School District as a Mechanics Helper from 1983 to present time.
Real estate has really become a passion of mine. I have owned a total of 5 rental properties plus my primary home. I have also experienced a lot of ups, and few downs. I lost everything in 2010.
I invested $450,000 into a fraudulent scheme and I had to short sale everything to prevent foreclosure. I did not have enough experience or guidance at that time. This was tremendously hard for my family, and myself. This set-back changed the way I thought about life. Never again will I put myself in that position.
With the experience of owning and losing everything I am now willing to volunteer my time to help home owners SAVE THEIR HOMES!!
